The draft convention on the legal status of the Caspian Sea has been agreed upon between the sides, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov said, Azeri Daily reports citing the press-service of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry. In late June, Russian President Vladimir Putin accepted the Russian government's proposal to sign the Convention on the Legal Status of the Caspian Sea. From the draft of the document on the legal status of the Caspian, it follows that the participants of the convention must adhere to the principle of non-presence in this body of water of armed forces not belonging to the parties to the convention. 'The atmosphere of friendship and cooperation was created on the Caspian Sea by the joint efforts of the Caspian littoral states. During the December 4-5, 2017 meeting in Moscow of the foreign ministers of the Caspian states, discussions were held on the draft Convention on the Legal Status of the Caspian Sea, as well as the current status of the draft sector documents, providing for cooperation in the Caspian Sea in various fields. The draft convention on the legal status of the Caspian Sea can be said to be agreed upon between the parties,' said Mammadyarov. Source: Azeri Daily
