The Caspian Policy Center has collected data from the National Statistics Office of Georgia and the State Statistical Committee of the Commonwealth of Independent States to determine the population trend of Georgia since 1991. After establishing independence in 1991, Armenia experienced a rapid population decline between 1991 and 1996, decreasing from 3,574,500 to 3,248,800. This population decline continued, at a more steady rate, between 1996 and 2023, from 3,248,800 to 2,979,200 in 2023, and overall decrease of 16.7% since 1991.
