Roundtable Discussion: Enhancing Trans-Caspian connectivity through maritime infrastructure development and coordination

The Caspian Policy Centre hosted a roundtable discussion with Director-General of the Baku International Sea and Trade Port, Taleh Ziyadov on May 28 in London. During the discussion, which was moderated by James Sharp, CPC Advisory Board Member, Ziyadov discussed the development of sustainable infrastructure across the Middle Corridor, regional connectivity, and the improvement of trans-Caspian infrastructure. The Middle Corridor holds great potential to become one of Europe’s primary trade routes and sources of energy. The emerging trade route offers a resolution to sanction- compliance issues, access to new markets, and new opportunities for business-to- business (B2B) and business-to-government (B2G) engagements in logistics, transportation, and infrastructure construction. This discussion focused on the role the Port of Baku can play in building a more sustainable Middle Corridor. Ziyadov also noted the ways in which the Middle Corridor’s e capacity and operational efficiency can be enhanced, focusing specifically on improving transport infrastructure and regional cooperation.
